Vanik Margaryan, Partner at “AM” Law Firm, participated in a working meeting jointly organized by the EBRD Investment Council in Armenia and the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, during which potential reforms of copyright legislation were discussed.
Vanik Margaryan presented proposals on reforming the collective management system, as well as new mechanisms for the protection of authors’ rights, having participated as a co-author in the development of the relevant legislative package.
Notably, under the proposed amendments, authors will be entitled to claim statutory compensation from infringers in the amount ranging from AMD 50,000 to AMD 2,000,000.
If adopted, these legislative initiatives will significantly improve the level of intellectual property protection in the Republic of Armenia, enabling authors to effectively enforce their rights through judicial proceedings, counteract infringements, and ensure a competitive and secure creative environment.
