The Court of Appeal confirmed the decision of the first instance court of general jurisdiction that Sarhat Petrosyan, the former Chairman of the Cadastre Committee slandered Avetik Eloyan, the client of AM law firm, who held the position of advisor to the
deputy mayor in 2019.
In 2023 the first instance court decided that the statements made by Petrosyan were slanderous and did not correspond to reality. The first instance court obliged him to publish a public refutation both on the official website of “Azatutyun” radio station and on his Facebook page.
The Court of Appeal also found that Sarhat Petrosyan slandered Avetik Eloyan and left this decision in force, with a partial amendment, setting the amount of compensation at 250,000 AMD. The case is currently being appealed at the Court of Cassation.
