The information disseminated by Vazgen Saghatelyan about Arusyag Manavazyan, a Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, during the “Imnemnimi” program was recognized by the court as defamatory, and he was ordered to issue a retraction.
On March 3, 2026, the Civil Court of General Jurisdiction of the City of Yerevan, Republic of Armenia, upheld the claim filed by Arusyag Manavazyan, a member of the “Civil Contract” faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, against Vazgen Saghatelyan, seeking the refutation of defamatory statements and compensation for defamation.
The court established that the statements disseminated by Vazgen Saghatelyan on July 19, 2025, during the “Imnemnimi” program were false and did not correspond to reality, and that, from an objective standpoint, they were defamatory and damaging to the individual’s honor and dignity. The court also found that Vazgen Saghatelyan acted with clear intent to harm the honor and dignity of the Member of Parliament.
The judicial protection of Arusyag Manavazyan’s violated rights was undertaken by “AM” Law Firm, represented by Senior Legal Advisor and Attorney Arman Nersisyan.
The court ordered Vazgen Saghatelyan to issue a public retraction and to pay monetary compensation to Arusyag Manavazyan.
This judgment once again confirms that legal action against defamation can be effective, and that the protection of honor and dignity can be fully ensured through professional legal representation.
